Terri Spencer (formerly of Take the Leash Dog Training) is one of the most trusted professional trainers in the area and only one of three trainers in the state of Kentucky who has been certified by the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors. For well over a decade, she has been helping both pets and their owners understand each other better and live in harmony. Terri is now training at Paws Town, LLC in Owensboro, and can help with just about any dog training need!
About the Trainer
Certified, Experienced, & Versatile
My name is Terri Spencer, and I am an NADOI-Certified dog trainer. This means that I have taken the extra steps to prove my knowledge and abilities to the oldest certifying body for dog trainers in the country. Being a member of the NADOI also means that I am committed to continuing my education throughout my career.
I am also a certified evaluator for Therapy Pets Unlimited and an AKC-Approved Evaluator for all levels of the Canine Good Citizen test/program. Dogs are truly my passion, and I've devoted the majority of my life to living and working with them. Over the years, I have helped hundreds of dogs and owners live better, more harmonious lives together.

Group Classes
Take your pet to school!
Group classes can help you learn how to teach your dog to respond under distraction and around other dogs. I offer multiple levels from beginner/puppy on up to Advanced and CGC-specific classes.
AKC CGC Testing & Training
Make your dog's training official.
As an AKC-approved CGC Evaluator, I can provide the training you need to ace the Canine Good Citizen tests. I also offer individual testing sessions for these programs.
Therapy Dog Training and Evaluation
Bring joy to others with a well-trained dog.
If you and your dog have a passion for making other people smile, becoming a therapy dog team might just be your calling. I offer training and evaluations for therapy dogs to help you attain this goal!
Private Lessons
Personalized and Professional
Private lessons are perfect for the dog owner who needs custom lessons to address a particular set of behavior problems. I have packages available both onsite and in your home - we can address the issue in the comfort of your living room, which also tends to be where the problems are at their worst!
Training Camp
A "reset" for you and your dog's relationship.
My training camp packages can be used to address just about any training issue that you may have. Whether it is getting your new dog or puppy off to the best start, curbing bad behavior, or hitting the reset button to get a handle on more serious behavior issues, this program can be invaluable!
